Furies of Calderon (Codex Alera, Book 1)

Furies of Calderon - Jim Butcher This is always one of those books (series) that I try to describe but can't quite put into adequate words. It's similar to a cross between the Roman Republic/Empire meets feudal England meets "Game of Thrones" and something else. Nonetheless, I love it as I do all of Butcher's writing. I love that Tavi (like Dresden) is the constant underdog but that when others' rely to heavily on their fury talents, he has to be clever and think his way through situations. It's a good life lesson.
